Friday, March 17, 2000; 11:49 a.m. Finn Photo Album
I'd updated this page in December, but was unable to upload it then. I'd forgotten all about that until yesterday. I've got a couple of new photos up, including one exclusive one of Tim from Peter Green at the fan club -- who, along with Tim, is very excited about Tim's new cd, Say It Is So!
Thursday, March 16, 2000; 01:14 p.m.
We have another new addition to announce. Crystal's brother and sister-in-law John and Kathleen Cross have a new son (this makes 5!). John Conner Cross was born late on Tuesday evening March 14. You can bet that photos will be forthcoming ;)
Thursday, March 16, 2000; 01:12 p.m. Phoebe's Gallery of Friends
Phoebe is proud to announce that she has a new member in her club! Sabrina is an adorable black kitty adopted from a shelter (much like Phoebe)! Do YOU have what it takes to be one of Phoebe's Friends?!
Thursday, March 16, 2000; 01:10 p.m. Suzanne's Good Vet
Check out the tribute Miss Suzanne made for her vet! Great idea!
Monday, March 13, 2000; 10:51 p.m.
It's Spring Break and we have lovely snowy weather here in Champaign, Illinois. I figured it's about time for an update. The kittens are adorable (big surprise there;-) and I'll put up some new photos in the next few days.
It's almost time for Oscar fever. I went to see American Beauty last weekend. It was good...but I dunno. I still think that both The Green Mile and The Sixth Sense were better movies. This weekend I went to see The Next Best Thing and it was one of the most un-Oscar-worthy films I've seen in a long time -- which was too bad in a way. I wanted so much to like it. I like Rupert Everett a lot and I want to not dislike Modonna (for Rosie's sake mostly). The Yoga Journal had given the yoga sequences in the film high marks, too [which makes me wonder some about the Yoga Journal now]. The film was just too flawed -- from Modonna's painful delivery, to a really bad script, to little mistakes like wouldn't a YOGA INSTRUCTOR be likely to notice that she hasn't had her period in months?! I mean, my instructor looks forward to that time of the month so that she can do the menstrual sequence. Also, how many gay men would really sleep with a woman just because he'd had a little too much to drink? [have you seen the hilarious Will and Grace when Will was having nightmares about him having sex with Grace?!] Na ja. The film did get bunches better once it stopped trying to be funny. I wish The Insider were still showing, because I'm sure I'd like it. Russel Crowe is so fabulous (I didn't know until last week that he's a New Zealander -- so much the better!)
Well, it's time to put the fur-babies to bed. Phoebe's been much less scarce these past few days. Muffin's only chased her under the sofa once (although she did try a few other times ... she's learned to answer to her name pretty well!) We're proud that Phoebe has finally decided that she has as much right to be in our apartment as they do...after all, she was here first!
Thursday, March 2, 2000; 11:21 p.m. Introducing the Sims' Kittens!
Meet our new furbabies, Muffin and Neo(Bisquick)! They are adorably sweet and very photogenic!
Saturday, February 19, 2000; 02:45 p.m. Book Links
Soon's Historical Fiction Site -- has short reviews of new and current historical fiction as well as tons of links!
Erin's Fiction Book Reviews -- leader of a book discussion newsgroup, Erin has reviews from a number of genres.
Books You May Have Missed -- this site offers a book discussion board as well as reviews.
Stacey's Book Nook -- in addition to reviews, this site offers writers and readers resources.
So There Books -- Home Page for Andrew K. Stone's All Flowers Die. Andy is in my book group, so I wanted to be sure to mention his book.
Hudson-Hills.com -- Home to this month's group read at Armchair Readers, An Hour To Kill. This is a true-life crime novel and one of the authors, Dale, is also a member of our book group.
Deadly Passions Bookstore -- while I'm at it, I've got to put a plug in for this store. If it weren't for them and their annual visits to the medieval congress at Kallamazoo, I might never have come to love medieval mysteries and Connie Willis!
Friday, February 18, 2000; 11:53 a.m. The Captain Kirk Singalong Page
This one is from Jennifer Putterman. I'd seen it a while back, but it's worth a mention. For those of you who aren't brave enough to endure Shatner's Mr. Tambourine Man or Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, there is an excerpt from Hamlet. You can also hear Scotty's little ditty from Scotland and check out the vocal talents of Data, Picard and even Spock, too.
Kitty Update -- Last Friday we adopted our kittens. The little girl is an 11 month old tortie named Muffin Mimi Belle. She had to go back to the vet Wednesday because of complications from her spay but she's back home and well now. The little boy is a 4-5 month old creamy tabby. His name has been narrowed down to Neo Mikey Bisquick, the Comet Kitty. He's helping me with my typing right now. The two babies love each other very much. Phoebe has started showing interest in what's in that room and has seen Bisquick from a distance. We're hoping that she'll be ready to get to know them really soon!
Wednesday, February 9, 2000; 12:20 p.m. Azrael Sims Photo Album and Post Cards
I just uploaded some nice photos of Azrael over at zing.com that you can send as postcards. I found out about this site from the Tongue in the Mail list, because someone has put up a New Zealand album with photos of the Split Enz New Years Eve concert as well as lovely nature shots.
